Microsoft License Mobility

A new benefit that is available through Microsoft is called License Mobility. Customers are able to use this benefit through Software Assurance. The use of License Mobility allows customers of Microsoft to move workloads of Microsoft Server applications to partners such as Amazon Web Services free of any software licensing fees. Customers may take advantage of this license mobility if they are covered by a Microsoft Software Assurance contract.

Efficiencies of cloud computing are available to customers while still being able to purchase a software licenses that are perpetual. Microsoft products that are eligible to take advantage of this benefit include Exchange Server, SharePoint Server, SQL Server Standard Edition and Enterprise Edition, Lync Server, a System Central Server and a Dynamics CRM Server. Microsoft Office is a proprietary commercial office suite of inter-related desktop applications, servers and services for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems, introduced by Microsoft on August 1, 1989. Microsoft Exchange Server is the server side of a client–server, collaborative application product developed by Microsoft. It is part of the Microsoft Servers line of server products and is used by enterprises using Microsoft infrastructure products. Exchange’s major features consist of electronic mail, calendaring, contacts and tasks; that work with Microsoft Outlook on PC and Mac, wireless synchronization of email, calendar, contacts with major mobile devices and browser-based access to information; and support for data storage.

Planning the migration from Microsoft’s internal “legacy XENIX-based messaging system” to the Exchange Server environment began in April 1993, and the process was completed in the late 1996 — early 1997 when the last XENIX server on the MS corporate backbone had been removed.

Microsoft reached the RTM (Release To Manufacturing) milestone for Exchange Server 2010 on October 8, 2009, and it was officially launched on November 9, 2009. Microsoft Office Access, previously known as Microsoft Access, is a database management system from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools.
